Renee Green is a hard-working single mom with six boys ranging in age from 16 to 1. On August 13, 2007 their home and all their posessions were destroyed in a fire -- leaving them with nothing but their precious lives and the clothes on their backs. Every single thing belonging to Renee and the boys was destroyed. School supplies. Clothing. Shoes. Appliances. Toys.

Everything.

fire_fic is a LJ community designed to raise money for Renee and her family. You can straight-up donate, or you can give via fandom charity: offer to write/vid/icon/whatever for donations, or buy the work of an author or artist you love.

This is what I love best about fandom: we take care of our own; we help each other out when we need to. The community has already raised more than $2,000 from people in every fandom under the sun.

This is win-win. You do a good deed, and you force an author to write the fic of your dreams. Can't beat that with a stick.
