Today is the Pope's birthday! Yay! )

Feel free to celebrate by spamming the community with Carly pictures. No, wait. That's okay anytime. :P Happy birthday, Carly!

I got sidetracked during research and found this; it's a couple years old, but hey, the worst that can happen is you get your letter returned.

All right, ragazzi. I have completely revamped the tags to make tagging, surfing, and general community life more pleasant. The new tags can be seen on the community's tags page, out front in our profile, or on the community's sidebar, but -- as always -- if you feel uncomfortable tagging your own entries, just leave the field blank and your friendly neighborhoor mod will do it for you.

Thanks so much, and keep on making this community a wonderful place to spend time!

I do not encourage off-topic posts in this community; in fact, it's against the rules. However, I believe this issue affects all of us; we're all fandom, right? So perk up your ears, kids.

I'm sure you all know about Livejournal's recent mass deletings. If not, here's the nutshell: a vigilante group contacted SixApart and told them they would contact all their advertisers and say very bad things unless all the child molestors were cleansed from the site. The result: 500+ journals were permanentally suspended, including literary discussions, fanfiction comms, and rape/incest survivor journals. Getting rid of pedophiles is commendable, but they're using a cannon to hunt pigeons.

If you're upset about this, I urge you to join [livejournal.com profile] fandom_counts. I urge you to contact SixApart. Their fax number is (415) 344-0829. I urge you to contact their CEO, who is quoted in the article I provided above. His name is Barak Berkowitz, and his email address is barak@typepad.com

Please mention that -- if, in fact, you do -- you pay for the privilege of keeping a blog at Livejournal, of belonging to this community. Tell him how you feel, and why.

Have a nice day, Pope Fans.

are the answers to yesterday's game. I hope everybody enjoyed themselves!

But, since I have no real way to gauge that due to slow comments yesterday, I thought I'd post a poll to see how you're liking things.

[Poll #972487]

Please answer honestly, because I want you guys to be happy, and -- frankly -- I don't really want to waste my time making up games that you guys don't enjoy.

Thanks!

As I believe you know, tomorrow's episode of dirt will not feature the lovely Miss Pope. My question to you is: would you still like discussion posts for the five remaining episodes which are, sadly, Carly-less?

[Poll #930981]
[identity profile] carlyinrome.livejournal.com

Because I'm so excited that she's going to be on popular television again, I decided to take my obsession to a whole new level and start a community devoted to the best thing to come out of Canada since that ham that's not really "bacon:" Carly Pope. The rules and mission statement are out front, but since this is the first post, let's just repeat them for sentimentality's sake:

Things you should post:

  • Carly-relevant news;
  •
  • Discussion and analysis of Carly films and television episodes;
  •
  • Pictures of Carly, including screencaps of her projects, icons, and other art;
  •
  • Fanfiction about any of Carly's characters;
  •
  • Information about relevent communities/websites/projects.

Things you should not do, because it makes people cranky:

  • Don't be rude. It is possible to have intelligent, thoughtful discussions without resorting to namecalling and talking about people's mothers. I've seen it.
  •
  • Don't spam about communities that haven't got anything to do with this one. Because we don't care. There are community promotion communities, ironically enough; find one of those to talk yourself up in.
  •
  • Put things behind cuts. If you have a story that's more than a hundred words, or a picture that's really big, or more than a few icons, put it behind a cut tag so that the other community members don't yell at you for making their friends' page look funky.
  •
  • Along these lines: please use cut tags for spoilers for current projects. Some people don't want to know everything before watching a new tv show/movie; respect that.
  •
  • The moderator is completely OCD about everything entry tags. She very much appreciates you using them, but she reserves the right to alter them if you do them improperly. If you don't understand entry tags, or if you're afraid of using the wrong ones; no sweat. It's totally not a big deal; feel free to leave the field blank.
  •
  • Do not hotlink pictures. People pay money for bandwidth, and hotlinking is stealing. There are many places -- including Livejournal -- that provide image-hosting completely free of charge.
  •
  • The moderator will totally delete your post if you're in violation of the rules more than once. Consider this your last warning.

That's about it. I expect people will remain fairly peacable, so membership is currently open. There's no layout yet because, heh, I'm waiting for screencaps of her first episode of dirt.
